A motorized sliding worktop conceals a bar storage area within the island. When activated, the worktop moves horizontally to reveal the recessed compartment beneath, keeping bottles, glassware, and frequently used drinks close to the seating area. Once finished, the worktop slides back into place, restoring the continuous stone surface and concealing the bar storage once again.

A Quiet and Efficient Rear Work Zone

The rear work area is framed by full-height timber-clad cabinets on both sides. Dark grey wall cabinets, pale grey base units, the worktop, and sink are neatly aligned, bringing washing, preparation, and everyday storage into one area. The tall cabinets provide additional storage capacity. The island is used for serving, wine, and conversation, while the rear area handles washing and frequent kitchen tasks, allowing the two zones to work together without interfering with each other.

Stone, Timber and Light

Deep grey cabinetry provides a quiet backdrop for the expressive stone, while timber cladding introduces a warmer tone from both sides. Linear lighting beneath the wall cabinets illuminates the sink and worktop directly, while warm lighting beneath the island emphasizes its floating form and brings out the warmer tones within the stone. Large windows fill the space with natural light, allowing the stone to appear brighter and more open during the day, then richer and deeper under artificial lighting at night.
