This whole-home custom space uses light grey artistic paint as a continuous backdrop, visually connecting the cabinetry and walls across the kitchen, dining area, and living room. Warm wood tones, circular and curved details, woven textures, and traditional motifs are subtly introduced throughout the space. Through the forms, materials, and proportions of the cabinetry, these elements come together in a more refined expression of contemporary Chinese style.

A Shared Center for Daily Living
The central island sits at the heart of the open-plan space, with a generous worktop that integrates washing and food preparation. A warm wood dining table extends from one side of the island, creating a layered composition at different heights. The kitchen and dining functions remain closely connected while maintaining clear boundaries, allowing food preparation, everyday meals, and family conversations to naturally take place around the same central point.
Continuous Cabinetry
Softening Boundaries Between Rooms
The light grey artistic paint extends across the floor-to-ceiling kitchen cabinetry, adjacent doors, and the TV wall in the living room. This continuous material treatment softens the boundaries between different functional areas, creating a cohesive backdrop throughout the public spaces. Circular detailing on the doors introduces a visual variation to the cabinetry, balancing the extensive straight lines with softer curves. Antique brass circular handles are integrated into the composition, adding subtle metallic details while reinforcing the overall proportions and layering.

Warm wood tones are concentrated on the dining table, open display niches, woven-texture cabinet doors, and TV unit. The woven texture gives selected cabinetry a lighter visual presence, balancing storage with display. The circular elements continue into the ceiling, where the curved form echoes the circular details within the cabinetry and creates a visual connection between the walls and the overhead plane. Linear lighting follows the edges of the curved ceiling, defining its outline while revealing the subtle texture of the artistic paint through changing light and shadow. Light grey establishes the overall base tone, while warm wood and antique brass accents add depth and warmth through carefully balanced material contrasts.
